The research labs IVS and KM at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) together with the International Research Training Group at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern are launching a new major program in Human Computer Interaction and Visualization (HCIV). The aim of this initiative is to establish a study and research program that will combine the knowledge of both the science and the practice in the fields of Human Computer Interaction and Visualization.

One of the first steps in organizing this program is a workshop with world-renowned experts in the fields of Human Computer Interaction and Visualization. The 1st HCIV Workshop will take place on
January 16th and 17th, 2006, in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

We will discuss the challenges of HCI and visualization and ways to attain them. We will hear talks of:
