DIViS 2014 First International Workshop on Designing Interactive Visualization for Smart Devices
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The workshop is dedicated to observations, concepts, approaches, techniques, and practices that allow understanding, facilitating, and increasing the awareness of the role of designing and implementing interactive visualization for smart devices and mobile environments.

DIViS 2014 is planned to be a full-day workshop held in conjunction with NordiCHI 2014. The workshop will take place at Helsinki, Finland on October 27, 2014.

Topics of interest for paper submissions include, but are not limited to:

  • Novel visualization techniques and methods targeting smart devices and mobile apps
  • Frameworks and approaches for designing interactive visualization
  • Novel visual interactive techniques targeting smart devices
  • Scalability issues
  • Context and usage issues
  • Accessibility and usability issues
  • Augmented reality environments/3D visualization
  • User-centric visualization
  • Testing/Evaluation
  • Tools and environments to support the designing and building of interactive visualization
  • Case studies and best practices

Important Dates

Submission deadline: Friday, September 05, 2014 (extended deadline!)
Notification of acceptance: Friday, September 19, 2014
Camera-ready submission: Monday, September 29, 2014
Workshop: Monday, October 27, 2014

Submission

The submitted papers should be 4 to 8 pages long using the SIGCHI Extended Abstract Format. (You can download the Word template directly from here

Submissions must be written in English. All papers submitted to the workshop must be unpublished original work and must not have been submitted elsewhere for publication. The selection of papers will be based on workshop relevance, academic rigor, innovation, industrial applicability, quality of writing and for their ability to trigger discussions. Submissions must be in PDF format and submitted electronically via EasyChair.

Springer Special Book:DIViS 2014 is an official event of IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) and the extended versions of the workshop accepted papers will be published in a special book by Springer.

Note:At least one of the authors of each accepted paper is required to register for the workshop and at least one day of the NordiCHI 2014 conference. For further details about registration, please visit NordiCHI '14 registration webpage (http://nordichi2014.org/registration). In the case if the participant wants to register only the workshop (without any full or one day registration at the main conference), the workshop registration fee will be charged double.
