DIViS 2014 First International Workshop on Designing Interactive Visualization for Smart Devices
HOME

NordiCHI is the main Nordic forum for human-computer interaction research, with the conference proceedings published in ACM Digital Library. NordiCHI gathers together academics and practitioners to present and discuss challenges and achievements in human-computer interaction from diverse perspectives. DIViS 2014 workshop will be held in conjunction with the 8th Nordic Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (NordiCHI '14) at Helsinki, Finland, October 27, 2014.

Visualization has different purposes, from representing complex structures or processes to allowing intuitive interaction with data or models. It also supports the aesthetics and enhances the user experience. The current smart device paradigm (i.e., smartphones and tablets) brings new challenges to mobile environments, as it mainly focuses on information utilization rather than information creation. In this context, visualization can play an important role for the interaction with these devices and successful execution of the user’s required tasks. This requires not only an intuitive collaboration between the interaction/UX designers and the visualization/HCI experts, but also needs a focusing on novel visualization approaches and techniques.

In DIViS 2014 workshop, we will discuss different issues and limitations regarding designing and implementing interactive visualization for smart devices, as well as how to overcome these limits through novel approaches and techniques.
